More Victorian Mourning Art

Today I visited another small local historical museum, this time in my town, Wyandotte Museum's Ford-MacNichol Home.

Here are some great shots I got of Mourning Art...

This intricate hair wreath.

And this sculpture made of hair.

The curator at the museum also told me how
to find the city's oldest cemetery,
Oakwood Cemetery,
so I went and took a look around there too.

You can view a slide show of many of
my cemetery photographs here.

Those hair "sculptures" are unbelievable. Looking forward to those cemetery pics!

I'm with Biddie - creepy + cool simultaneously! The Victorians sure knew how to do up any occasion.

Why is it that it seems all the best cemeteries are called "Oakwood?"
