Made By A Million Spiders

This rare golden textile was made by the silk of more than one million wild spiders. It is now on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

"To produce this unique golden cloth, 70 people spent four years collecting golden orb spiders from telephone poles in Madagascar, while another dozen workers carefully extracted about 80 feet of silk filament from each of the arachnids. The resulting 11-foot by 4-foot textile is the only large piece of cloth made from natural spider silk existing in the world today."

What a good use of spiders. I not much of a fan of spiders. So they freak me out too.

Have a terrific day Diane. Big hug. :)

Don't show this to the Frog Queen! Those are some "Big Ass" spiders. I wonder what the cloth feels like? Would I wake up stuck in it?

Yeah - I'm onboard with everyone here: Absolutely stunning work. Absolutely terrifying spiders.

And he's just palming them in that photo like they're sleepy kittens!

Uhhhh....heebie jeebies. Heebie jeebies! I'd never be able to touch the cloth if I knew that's' where it came from.

I'd be worried the spiders might come back for it in the middle of the night...
