Family In Mourning

From my own collection.

What do you make of the father's expression?
He looks so sad, angry and confused.
I think the mother is strikingly beautiful.

Have a good weekend.

It's beautiful. The first time I saw a photograph of a dead person in a coffin, I completely freaked out. Now...it seems sad to me that people don't do that anymore. When my Grandmother passed a couple years ago, I made certain I took a photo of her in her coffin. :)

The picture looks very Slavic in origin I wouldnt think Russian though.
The man of the house looks put out at having to be there.

Amazing picture - very moving.

I think the man (father?) resents the intrusion of the camera into his family's grief - though presumably the photographer was invited by a member of the family.

I really like your blog. I've recently found a slide show you might like. It's about the book Wisconsin Death Trip, a morbidly wonderful publication. Given your content, I thought you might like the slide show as well as the book.
